Tanja’s fascination with food began by watching her grandmother create tasty meals out of leftovers in her German kitchen. She tagged along as her mentor purchased produce from Rhineland farmers, picked up fresh breakfast rolls from the corner bakery, and negotiated for the best cuts of meat from her friend the butcher.

Tanja graduated with a master’s degree in magazine publishing from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and fed her fondness for food by writing for lifestyle publications. She’s worked as an editor for Better Homes & Gardens Kitchen & Bath Ideas, wrote hotel and restaurant reviews for Fodor’s, and contributed a recurring column on home entertaining for Ocean magazine. She serves as a guest blogger for The Food Channel.
