The Food Channel has been working on its annual dessert report—this year, focusing on chocolate. So when we remembered that National Chocolate Pudding Day was June 26, we figured we’d go ahead and give you a preview of what’s to come. We’ll have more chocolate recipes than ever, but you might as well kick it off with a little old-fashioned pudding.
Puddings go back to the 1600s, when they were less like our modern Jell-O® versions and more like a plum pudding, with a cake that has sort of a built in sauce. So we’ve gone back to its origins to bring you this Brownie Pudding recipe—half brownie, half pudding, and all delicious.
And, if you missed National Chocolate Pudding Day, take heart and plan ahead—the listing of “bizarre holidays” has more special days set aside to honor pudding. Try these:
- National Plum Pudding Day–February 12
- National Tapioca Pudding Day–July 15
- National Indian Pudding Day–November 13
- National Butterscotch Pudding Day–September 19
For now, though, think chocolate along with us. Because pudding is just the start of things to come!
