Fair Trade Soft Drink Gives Back to African Communities

Here’s a soda that is giving back and using Fair Trade to set an example. The Ubuntu Trading Company has committed to return a share of its profits to the African sugar farmers to help them develop their communities.

This new soft drink is said to be the first certified Fair Trade cola. The Cherryflava web magazine says, “The word ‘ubuntu’ means ‘humanity’ or ‘fellow feeling’, translating from South African languages to mean, ‘I am what I am because of who we all are.’ That sentiment alone is a very good reason for giving the drink a go.”

The soda is made from Fair Trade sugar from Malawi and Zambia. A share of profits will go back to the communities there to help with development.
