Gaea Olive Snack Packs: Food Channel Finds

This review of Gaea Olive Snack Packs is part of Food Channel Finds, our way of bringing information and opinion on some of the latest products to hit the market. These might be interesting food items seen as we walk a trade show, on a grocery store shelf, at food event or, often, from press releases—enticing us to put them to the test, to see how they deliver.

According to a recent case study by Mintel Group Ltd, 94 percent of adults snack at least once a day and the types of snack foods people crave are evolving. Which is why we were intrigued when we received information on  Gaea Olive Snack Packs, which are pre-portioned individual servings of olives. They looked to be a great snack alternative, especially for those wanting to reduce added sugars and preservatives in their diets.

The packaging is easy, portable, and drip-free, preserving the fresh and authentic flavor of the olives. The product is 100 percent natural and preservative free, with reduced salt.

Let us Snack

As usual, we gathered our chefs, writers and insights team for a roundtable sampling of Gaea Olive Snack Packs. The flavors we sampled included Kalamata Olives, Gourmet Green Olives, Marinated Lemon and Oregano Olives, and Chili Olives.

Across the board, all flavors were well liked, but the Pitted Kalamata Olives were the clear winner. Our roundtable found that they had the best flavor and texture, and were most similar to fresh. The flavored olives were also fan favorites, with the Marinated Lemon and Oregano Olives getting reviews such as bright, buttery and smooth with great texture.

Portability is a key factor in the rise of snacking culture and one The Food Channel has been tracking for more than a decade. We gave the Gaea Olive Snack Packs 5/5 for portability and ease of access. They are a perfect snack to throw into your purse, gym bag or suitcase for a nutritious and tasty treat.

How Can You Get Them?

Each pack of Gaea Olives comes in a 4.2 oz portable bag that costs $7.25 USD retail, OR a 2.3 oz portable bag that costs $2.49 USD. If eaten as a snack, each bag contains enough olives for 2 people to share.
