Annapolis Crab Feast

The Rotary Club of Annapolis puts on a Crab Feast every year in Annapolis, MD. According to reports, this fund raiser brought in over $60,000 last year that was distributed to area not-for-profit groups. This 63rd annual event (also called “the best darn crab feast in the world”) will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 from 5-8 p.m., rain or shine, at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. Advance tickets for adults are $55 for all you can eat and drink. Here are a few details:

The Feast:

Includes all you can eat and drink, including Large & #1 male crabs – the big ones – plus Maryland vegetable crab soup, sweet Maryland corn on the cob, beef barbecue sandwiches, all-American hot dogs, draft beer and assorted sodas and water. Ben & Jerry’s ice cream will be donating proceeds from discounted ice cream at the event. Also, a bake sale and cake raffle will finish your feast with sweetness.

3000 people, 478 bushels of crabs, 3400 ears of corn, 130 gallons of crab soup, 1800 hot dogs, 150 pounds of beef barbecue, hundreds of gallons of soft drinks and beer. The hot dogs and barbecue are all donated by Adam’s Ribs.

It’s an all-you-can-eat affair, so take all you want, but eat all you take, and if you have more than you need, share with a neighbor. That way, we can reduce the waste and help preserve one of our most precious natural resources.

Parking for the 2008 Annapolis Rotary Crab Feast at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is FREE. You MUST enter the Stadium parking lot via Gate #2 (Farragut Ave.) or Gate #6 (Taylor Avenue) and park on the West (GOLD) Side of the stadium. All other parking lots at the stadium are paid parking.

Entry will be through gates 2 and 6 on the Gold side of the Stadium and no drinks, containers, backpacks, large bags, coolers, or like items may be taken in to the event.

Open Seating Tickets: Only 2500 tickets will be sold. Adults, $55 in advance. Children, 6 to 12 – $25 in advance. After the cut off for advanced sales (July 25), adult tickets will be $65 and Children’s tickets will be $35. Children under 6 free. There will be a $3 Handling and Mailing fee for all direct mail orders. Tickets can be purchased online.

Preferred Dining Tickets:

For the ultimate crab eating experience the Annapolis Rotary is offering group seating for an additional price in a special tented area that will enjoy all the crab feast has to offer while be served by a personal wait staff. Limited seating is available and fills quickly.

The Cause:

Annapolis Rotary members pay all their own administrative costs for the operation of the club, so 100% of all funds raised are donated to local charities. Last year’s crab feast donated $60,000 directly to local charities and non-profit groups. More than $1 million has been awarded since the first Annapolis Rotary Crab Feast in 1946.

Major Sponsors:

This year’s major sponsors include: Adam’s the Place for ‘Ribs’ of Severna Park; Katcef Brothers; Ben & Jerry’s; and Constellation Energy.
