The Olympics brought more than Michael Phelps to China – it also brought its first celebrity chef.
Daniel Boulud, owner of several famed restaurants in New York (with a signature dish pictured, left), has opened Maison Boulud in near Tiananmen Square. Boulud, in a Reuters interview, said, “Beijing is definitely happening right now and the momentum of the Olympics has given an amazing boost to the city.”
We’ll see what happens after the Olympics and how food and restaurants may change, not only in Beijing, but throughout Asia. Where one chef goes, others will undoubtedly follow.
