The Website ChewOnThis.org has created a Food Wheel that serves as a practical guide to the 40 most common culinary herbs. The user can spin the illustrated wheel to discover which parts are best to use and how each herb can add flavor and life to foods.
The wheel also provides preservation and storage tips, recipes and quick ideas to inspire further experimentation with fresh herbs. ChewOnThis.org was started by private chef and wellness coach Carlin Greenstein and graphic designer Annie Stranger. They say they established the site ‘to share our love of food and educate our friends about the health and environmental benefits of eating locally.”
The two New Yorkers have also created a New York Area Food Wheel designed to help Gotham area residents figure out the best times of year to buy locally grown produce. They say they hope to develop similar food wheels soon for other regions.
Each wheel is priced at $11.
