How Long Can I Store Corn Oil?

Question: Does corn oil become rancid after having it for over six months? – George

Answer: The best way to store corn oil is in the refrigerator, and the recommended time is 6 months. Because corn oil is high in polyunsaturated fat, it really starts the process of deterioration before you even bring it home. You may not be able to detect any unpleasant taste or odor in a polyunsaturated oil, so we recommend following the ‘use by’ instructions from the manufacturer. Try to purchase brands that are packaged in darker containers, to keep out light. Keep the corn oil sealed tightly when not in use.
