In the mood for foodie-quality eats on the cheap? There’s a new web site that can help you find what you’re looking for.

It’s called 3 Buck Bites and it’s populated with a cornucopia of delectable food items from neighborhood restaurants across the country that cost no more than $3.99 each. Submitted by food lovers from all over the USA, the delicacies range from kobe beef sliders to sweet potato mousse cake to something called a Tostada Mixtiada (fresh seafood and avocado served on a tostada, for $3.75).

Three Buck Bites bills itself as ‘the go-to guide and lookbook for food lovers who crave cheap eats.’ If you sign on as a ‘Frugal Foodie,’ your mission is to scour local restaurants and photograph culinary delights priced under $3.99. A team of ‘esteemed foodies, professional eaters and full-time culinary admirers, known as the ‘3 Buck Dictators,’ review all submissions and post the ones that pass mustard—er, muster.

You can search for the cheap eats by city (so far about 20 major cities), type of cuisine, or price—or even search for a specific restaurant. In addition to the web site, you can access 3 Buck Bites via Twitter or Facebook.

With the economy still biting most of us in the behind, we suspect folks will be eating up 3 Buck Bites. We wouldn’t be surprised to see similar search sites popping up soon.
