How do you make black icing? I want to make “Smiley” cookies with gold icing and black “smiley” in honor of our favorite team.

Answer:
To make black icing, simply mix black food coloring in to a white icing. Instead of picking up the food coloring at the grocery store, your best bet will be a more ‘professional grade’ food coloring found at craft or specialty baking stores (or online). They come in small containers that look like medicine jars and usually cost around $2.50-$5 an ounce.
