Jones Soda Goes Vegan for the Holidays with Tofurky & Gravy Flavor

By Cari Martens

Jones Soda, the quirky brand that has tempted us in holidays past with refreshing soft drink flavors such as Turkey & Gravy, Sweet Potatoes, and Dinner Rolls and Peas, is going vegan this year.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, Jones is introducing its latest carbonated beverage flavor: Tofurky and Gravy, combining the flavor of tofu turkey and gravy.

As reported in Promo magazine, Jones was approached by Turtle Island Foods Inc., the people who make Tofurky. ‘They thought it would be fun to do something new for the holidays,’ says Mike Spear, brand manager for Jones. Tofurky is made from a special combination of organic tofu, wheat gluten, canola oil and a secret blend of herbs and spices.

Now it’s available in a drinkable form—and it’s sugar free!

‘We’re doing it for the fun of it and to build some buzz,’ Spear told Promo magazine. ‘Our fans have come to expect those sorts of things from us.’

The soda is available at the Jones website only, and it comes as part of a six-pack which includes three bottles of Tofurky & Gravy and three more from the brand’s zero calorie line (called Jones Zilch), which are supposed to aid in post-holiday weight loss. I guess we’re supposed to save those three bottles for early January.
