Want to keep track of how many calories you’re consuming on a given day? There’s an app for that.
A new iPhone app from DailyBurn makes it easier than ever to see how healthy (or unhealthy) your eating habits are.
Called FoodScanner, the new app scans package bar codes so you can quickly learn and log the product’s calorie count and view other nutritional data. Rick Broida, in a review appearing on cnet.com, says the app works well and is as cool as it sounds.
To use FoodScanner, you just tap the lightning bolt icon, then point the iPhone camera at a UPC bar code until it’s centered between the arrow guides. In a few seconds, you see a picture of the product and can review its nutrition label, or tap ‘I Ate This!’ to log it in your daily database and track your calorie intake.
FoodScanner also includes a search option that ties to DailyBurn’s database of more than 200,000 foods, so you can look up almost anything you can’t scan. Like, say, a banana or slice of coconut cream pie. The FoodScanner app is available for $2.99.
The world of foodie apps continues to expand. Just like my waistline.
