What are you giving up for Lent? Christen Nehmer, videographer for The Food Channel, is giving us her experience in going meatless. Follow along throughout the 40 days of Lent.
Day 19:
I started off this lovely Sunday with an egg and cheese toaster sandwich from Sonic. Normally, I get those with ham, but you know I can’t eat ham right now.
I watched Brent (the boyfriend) eat one of Sonic’s breakfast burritos. These things are loaded with sausage, egg, cheese, jalapenos and peppers. A piece of sausage fell out of the burrito onto the paper wrapping. I felt myself staring at it. I don’t even like sausage.
After breakfast, we made a trip to Sam’s to get some groceries. We walked to the back where they keep the produce and my favorite, the rotisserie chickens (See our Food Channel comparison, “here’:http://www.foodchannel.com/stories/813-rotisserie-rankings). Again, I felt myself staring. I’m really getting the itch now. I’m halfway through and it’s driving me crazy.
For dinner, we met up with some friends at a local Mexican restaurant called Prima’s. There I ordered their fish tacos. I was super impressed. They were delicious and the fish was not fried! I’ll be ordering those again next time we eat there.
Needless to say, it was a good weekend. I’ve already made a Qdoba date with my fellow video winners. I can’t wait.
