Anita Jones-Mueller, MPH is President and founder of HEALTHY DINING. Established in 1990, HEALTHY DINING brings together the restaurant industry’s ‘culinary brilliance’ with America’s quest for healthier cuisine. HEALTHY DINING’s mission is to empower Americans to enjoy dining out as part of a healthy lifestyle and to inspire restaurants to prosper by offering a selection of ‘dietitian-approved HEALTHY DINING menu choices.’

In collaboration with the National Restaurant Association, HEALTHY DINING leads the largest-ever restaurant industry nutrition initiative with more than 70,000 participating restaurant locations, coast to coast. Participating restaurants, from fast food to fine dining, offer a selection of dietitian-approved choices and are featured on the signature website, The site is promoted to the growing segment of health- and weight-conscious consumers through employers, health organizations, health insurance companies, weight control programs, fitness centers, the media, and many more. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provided partial funding for the development of the initiative. recently received the Bronze Web Health Award from the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC). This award program recognizes ‘the best Web-based health-related content for consumers and professionals’ based on ‘accuracy, success in reaching the targeted audience and overall quality.’

Pioneers and leaders in restaurant nutrition, the HEALTHY DINING team has provided nutrient analysis and nutrition consulting services to hundreds of restaurant companies, including helping many restaurants comply with menu-labeling legislation. HEALTHY DINING’s nutrition team includes culinary registered dietitians, master’s level nutrition professionals and a PhD quality assurance director.

Anita Jones-Mueller is an engaging speaker who has provided hundreds of presentations to various audiences, as well as interviews for television, radio and print media. She earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health from San Diego State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education from Portland State University in Oregon. She is the author of nineteen editions of HEALTHY DINING books for the Southern California area. Anita is ‘at work’ promoting better nutrition with her two daughters (ages 9 and 15).
