Desserts and confections makers continue to experiment with combinations of savory and sweet. We’ve seen all manner of bacon-as-dessert ingredient including bacon-flavored ice creams and chocolates with bacon bits.
Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, Chicago-based chocolatier truffle truffle is offering foodies a chance to experiment with spices and ingredients from south of the border. They’re currently featuring a Chipotle Peanut Butter S’more and a Chili Truffle as a salute to the Mexican holiday.
‘Combining chocolate with spices has been a tradition for hundreds of years,’ says truffle truffle founder and chocolatier Nicole Greene. ‘Both of these creations really complement that array of tastes in each bite.’
The Chipotle Peanut Butter S’more combines all-natural peanut butter with the smoky heat of chipotle peppers, with marshmallows infused with dried chipotle and combined with organic peanut butter, sandwiched between peanut butter shortbread cookies and enrobed in dark chocolate. (Wow.)
The Chili Truffle is infused with ancho and cayenne peppers. The truffle’s milk chocolate ganache satisfies your sweet tooth, while its spicy heat gets your endorphins pumping.
A truly artisanal chocolate and confections company, truffle truffle also makes caramels, brittle and other confections available online at www.truffletruffle.com and at several retailers around Chicago. Every item is hand made from scratch by founder, owner and pastry chef Nicole Greene.
Sounds like something especial to cap off a Cinco celebration meal.
