Look out chocoholics: hundreds of professional chocolatiers will descend upon Lexington, Ky., June 21–25 to swap their secrets to making the world’s most decadent chocolates. And guess what? The Food Channel is going to be there to record every delicious detail. Okay, well, not EVERY detail, but all the really tasty stuff.
Retail Confectioners International, the non-profit trade association serving the chocolate and confectionary industry since 1917, will host its 90th annual convention and industry expo at the Hyatt Regency Lexington. The members-only event, called ‘The Romance of Chocolate,’ will feature chocolate makers, confectioners and candy industry suppliers who gather annually to relay the latest information about chocolate and candy-making trends.
This year, expo attendees will get a first-hand opportunity to quiz industry leaders about chocolate techniques, production efficiencies and—yum!—flavor trends. Show goers will also get down to business educating one another about nutritional legislation and food safety.
A show highlight will be the behind-the-scenes tours of three renowned chocolate companies: Old Kentucky Chocolates, which specializes in 100-proof Jim Beam bourbon products; Rebecca-Ruth Candies, proclaimed the inventor of bourbon ball chocolate candies; and Schimpff’s Confectionary, who will disclose how their famous red hot candies are made the old fashioned way on century-old equipment.
The Food Channel will keep you informed of all the latest show happenings, so check back often, chocolate lovers.
