New Invention Fries With Little or No Oil

By Cari Martens

Doesn’t the idea of a machine that turns out crispy, golden french fries made without frying oil sound like the holy grail of cooking appliances?

Delicious fried foods made without frying oil…sounds like a lot of hot air, right? Well, yeah, that’s actually kind of how it works.

The Royal Philips Electronics people say they’ve made this breakthrough with their new invention, the Airfryer, which uses little or no oil as it ‘fries.’ The new appliance was unveiled this month at a new products convention in Berlin, Germany.

The Airfryer uses what Philips describes as “patented Rapid Air technology”: to circulate hot air around a grill component, creating delicious meals with up to 80% less fat. Whether it’s perfect french fries, crispy chicken nuggets, delicately browned meat or golden pastries, food is cooked and crisped to perfection, all in just twelve minutes.

Here’s a video demonstration of this new fryer featuring two gentlemen with charming accents.
