Pancakes Out in a Pop

Remember watching old Jetsons cartoons? They always seemed to have the coolest gadgets. Who didn’t want a flying car that could be packed tidily into a briefcase? And Rosie was awesome, wasn’t she? The day still has yet to come when we can have robotic maids and flying cars, but we are getting closer to something else from the Jetsons that is pretty amazing as well: The Food-A-Rac-A-Cycle.

Imagine getting up in the morning, and telling a machine you wanted some pancakes for breakfast, and in a matter of seconds they appear, perfect, plump, and golden brown. Now you can! What I’m talking about isn’t exactly the Food-A-Rac-A-Cycle, rather, it is the Popcake, and with it you can make pancakes with just the click of a button.

Admittedly, this isn’t something the average consumer is going to have in her kitchen, but restaurants and C-stores will, and you may find yourself using one there, or at a hotel that has self-serve breakfast service.

Innovative Commercial Concepts debuted the Popcake machine at last spring’s National Restaurant Show. This nifty little contraption can make three different sizes of pancakes. Perfect for a unique hors d’oeuvre, the Popcake can make 1-inch pancakes, but there’s no better use for it than breakfast. Depending on how hungry you are, the Popcake allows you to make either 4- or 6-inch pancakes, and since they only take about a minute to make a Popcake pancake, there would be no reason to skip breakfast ever again. After all, how many meals can be made in 60 seconds?

The speed at which the Popcake delivers isn’t the only feature that’s worth notice. The Popcake allows the user to choose how light or dark he/she wants the pancake, and Popcake produces numerous toppings for the pancakes. If you’re really in a hurry, though, the Popcake comes with a utensil that will fold the pancake in half to make a delicious breakfast burrito that can be eaten on the go. There are two mixes, a Sweet mix and a Savory Mix. What’s more, because the Popcake doesn’t use traditional methods of pancake making, its pancakes are 97% fat free.

Innovative Commercial Concept’s people say Popcakes can be summed up in four words: simple, versatile, healthy, and quick. It’s a good choice for businesses that need breakfast fixed in a flash, and the pancakes will likely appeal to a wide-range of consumers, and perhaps it will take us one step closer to the days when we can have whole five course meals pop out of a machine on-demand. For now, however, we’ll just have to be happy with an over-all satisfying breakfast in seconds.

For more information, you may visit the Popcake website, which goes live this week.
