Convoy of Hope has sent out 18,000 meals from its warehouse in Manila, Philippines to the southern island of Mindanou where tropical storm Washi has killed an estimated 600 people.
Jeff Nene, senior director public relations for Convoy of Hope, said, “Our global disaster response team is coordinating relief efforts through our country director for the Philippines. He is working with local representatives, contacts and churches to ensure these meals will be distributed quickly to those in need.”
Information from the affected areas indicates a need for food, bedding and dry clothing.
“This is a time of year for giving and sharing with others in need,” said Nene. “We will work diligently to respond to the hurting of our neighbors and friends in the Philippines.”
