Tortuga Unveils Chocolate Rum Turtles with Sea Salt

Adding a tropical twist to a classic confection, the Tortuga Rum Cake Company is introducing Chocolate Rum Turtles with Sea Salt as the latest addition to their expanding line of authentic Caribbean rum cakes, hot and savory Scovie-Award winning sauces, rum flavored gourmet coffees, rum fudge and more. All are being sampled in the Tortuga Rum Cake Company display at the 36th Winter Fancy Food Show in San Fancisco.

Milk chocolate covered rum caramel patties with pecans and a generous sprinkling of sea salt create a delicious, chewy and crunchy candywith unique Caribbean flair. The 5 oz. package of six turtle candies will have a suggested retail price of $9.95 and is expected to be available later this spring.

“Like the very successful rum cake sampling program that we offer our retailers, we are sampling our new chocolate rum turtles at the show,” says Gary Oliver, Sales Manager for Tortuga Imports Inc/Tortuga Rum Cake Company. “This is the first time in several years that we have exhibited at the Winter Fancy Food Show and look forward to introducing attendees to our authentic Caribbean brand.”

Understanding the adage “when they try it, they will buy it” from the thousands of tourists that visit Tortuga shops in the Cayman Islands to sample their rums and rum cakes, the company offers sheet cakes to help retailers facilitate their own sampling programs.

Tortuga Rum Cakes offer the authentic taste of the Caribbean – including all nine tropical flavors baked in the Cayman Islands, Barbados, Jamaica and the Bahamas. From a four-generation old family secretrecipe, Tortuga Caribbean rum cakes are made with the finest ingredients and special oak-barrel-aged Tortuga gold rum. Each cake is hand glazed and vacuum sealed, locking in the delicious freshness and giving the cakes a shelf life of up to nine months, or indefinitely if refrigerated or frozen.
