The online votes have been tabulated and we can now announce the winner of The Food Channel’s “Pitch Place” video contest. Karen “K.C.” Quaretti, with her show, “Chat ’n Dish,” is the big winner. She’ll receive the Coby Kyros 10” Android-powered tablet and her cooking show will be featured on The Food Channel homepage.

“Chat ‘n Dish” typically showcases one of the home cook’s favorite recipes, demonstrated step-by-step via an overhead camera, along with K.C.’s enthusiastic narration. She usually ends each episode with a few “shout-outs” to other foodie web sites and food blogs that she recommends to viewers in her unique and charming style. You can look forward to seeing “Chat ’n Dish” soon as a regular feature on The Food Channel, and we look forward to bringing it to you.

Quaretti grew up in Tacoma, Wash., and has lived in Los Angeles and Malibu, California and in the South of France for 11 years.  She currently resides in Venice, Florida. Each of these places, Quaretti says, gave her a wealth of recipes–from her grandmother’s Swedish Cardamom Bread, to the Fois Gras with Lentils served at the Cigalon in Valbonne, France. Her recipes have been published in Every Day with Rachael Ray, The Real Women of Philadelphia Community Cook Book, Taste of Home and the Herald Tribune. She has appeared on a number of network and local TV shows demonstrating her dishes.

More shows to come

“We launched ‘Pitch Place’ this year to give fans a shot at their 15 minutes of fame, and we all had a lot of fun with it,” said Kay Logsdon, The Food Channel’s editor in chief. “There are a lot of show ideas out there that we hope to be able to look into a bit further, starting with Chat ’n Dish.”

Pitch Place also tapped into the growing popularity of home videos. “Offering a contest like this is a great way to see how other foodies are sharing their experiences with one another through video sharing sites,” says Christen Nehmer, a Food Channel video producer.

The entries were narrowed down to five finalists by a panel of judges, and then Food Channel’s Facebook fans were invited to choose the winner. The entries received included ideas ranging from restaurant reviews to cooking gluten free.

Congratulations to K.C. Quaretti, our newest Food Channel video star.
