There’s no better time for a romantic getaway than Valentine’s Day. So The Food Channel has taken a look at some of the best getaway locations to, perhaps, spark a restaurant romance for you this year!

Our choice this year for something memorable is the Moonrise Hotel and the adjoining Eclipse Restaurant in St. Louis. You’ll want to read our full review, here. Or, simply check out their Valentine’s package!

Of course, if you aren’t in St. Louis, perhaps you are in New York . . . or Chicago. We have a few ideas there, too–and would love to hear where you plan to take your sweetheart on this most-romantic of all dates!

Here are a few ideas:

If you are in New York, try the DUO Restaurant & Lounge for its special Valentine’s Day Dinner. They are featuring  what they call an “affordable Valentine’s Day menu featuring four tantalizing courses.” That includes the Besame (Kiss me) cocktail, pictured.

Here are the menu items to start your taste buds going:

Start with a shrimp tartlet with mango crème, herb chimichurri and jalapeno-lime gelee, then choose from a variety of options in the second and third course, such as seafood ceviche with scallops, shrimp, calamari, champagne poached lobster & passion fruit ‘caviar’ or beef carpaccio with baby greens, candied hazelnuts, truffled goat cheese fritters & orange balsamic vinaigrette to honey bourbon glazed duck with snow peas, apricot-fig compote, toasted pearl cous cous & pickled bing cherries or grilled filet mignon with morels à la crème, truffle butter, spaghetti vegetables, potato crisp in a red Bordeaux reduction. For the final course, diners will get a tasting selection from DUO’s Pastry Chef.

DUO is located at 72 Madison Avenue, NYC. Call 212-686-7272 to set reservations.

Or, go to MAZE by Gordon Ramsay at The London, and get a five course prix-fixe meal to celebrate the holiday. It ends with The London NYC’s signature chocolate truffles and a red rose–but before you get there, you get to taste menu items such as Jerusalem artichoke velouté, Carnaroli risotto of safran, Sautéed sea scallops and much more

Reservations for MAZE by Gordon Ramsay at The London can be made at Open Table, dialing 212-468-8889 or via e-mail GordonRamsayNY@LuxuryResorts.com.

Want to find romance on the water? The Odyssey and the Spirit of Chicago cruise ships will celebrate Valentine’s Day Weekend with skyline views, romantic dinners and brunches. You can be part of a champagne toast, and have brunch or dinner while you cruise. Both ships offer climate-controlled decks and dance floors.

If a land location in Chicago is more to your liking, we recommend the brand new Urban Union, where your insider knowledge of the hot places in town is sure to be rewarded!

And, we love the Peabody Hotel, in Memphis, where you can pick up a Valentine’s themed cake or other pastry delicacy to celebrate with someone you love.

So, plan your getaway–whether your tastes run to champagne or something simpler. The point is to bring out the romance. And nothing does it better than a relaxing time away with great food!
