You’d better hope people have a sense of humor when you suggest they sprinkle something on their food that’s called “Bird Crap.”
But that’s exactly what the folks behind Bird Crap Seasoning are doing. The product is described as a spicy, salty-peppery blend that the makers claim is “great for seasoning just about anything.”
Bird Crap Steak, Shrimp, Burger & Chicken Seasoning is custom blended in Pawleys Island, S.C., and costs around $6 for a 6-oz. bottle.
The product, which seems to be a basic blend of pepper and sea salt, is part of a trend of giving things weird names in an attempt to stand out from the crowd. We’ve noticed this trend particularly in the sauce and seasoning category—especially with hot & spicy sauces. But Bird Crap manages to set itself apart even with this crowd, thanks to its audacious name.
Some people will probably buy it just so they can put it on their table and get a laugh from dinner guests. Hey, it’s a nice conversation starter.
