The Lighthouse Mouse of Door County

One of the charming things about Door County, of course, is its history. The charm comes to life in a series of books by Sue Steckart Jarosh, who has brought history to life for children in these hardback stories.

Jarosh, who has been a tour guide at the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse Museum in Door County, grew up visiting her family’s cottage in Jacksonport. She taught in Appleton, WI for some years, then the family moved to Door County and opened a gift shop. Now, in retirement, she is writing to inspire children and their families to a love of history as well.

Door County’s Eagle Bluff Lighthouse Mouse is historic fiction for children, walking them through illustrated highlights of a young boy who grew up as part of a lighthouse family. She has a second book out, as well—helping carry on the heritage of those who live in and love Door County.
