Weโ€™ve mentioned before that the Bentonville/Rogerโ€™s area of Arkansas has become a hotbed of new restaurant concepts. Whether itโ€™s the proximity to Walmartโ€™s global headquarters, the almost-Southern feel of the town, or the ties to the University of Arkansas, itโ€™s definitely a great place for those who love food.

Case in point: Prelude Breakfast Bar

This place in Bentonville took us by surprise since, by night, it’s a totally different restaurant concept, The Scotch & Soda. When the nightlights are turned on, it’s the go-to place for cocktails and food. But in the morning hours, the space turns into something really special for breakfast.

Prelude Breakfast Bar is where you can go for a great morning conundrum–meaning, which pancake shall I choose for my flight of three? You might want the Chai My Latte, with chai spices and chai buttercream. Or (a personal favorite), the Apple Bourbon with apple compote and caramel. Or, go all-out fun with the Monkey Chip, which is just what you’d expect with chocolate chips and banana whipped cream.

Prefer an omelet? Choose a Piggyback, with bacon, ham, sausage and two kinds of cheese. Or go a different direction with the Me Love Greens, full of mushrooms, squash, spinach and avocado.

Keep in mind of course, that the menu is highly seasonal so things change. What doesn’t change is their hold on minimal processing, no corn syrup, great coffee, and lots of menu variety. Their eggs benedict are great, as is any egg dish that we’ve tried. There is a nice a la carte menu with all the meats, sauces, fruits and breakfast items you crave.

We also loved the hot tea menu. While they are known for good coffee, offering a tea variety is a good sign that they know their market.

The restaurant prides itself on being family-owned and operated, giving them room to specialize on what’s important to them. Next time you find yourself in the area, check out the downtown Bentonville area.
