This recipe was submitted courtesy of Brooke Dizmang, whose mother, Norma Champion, hosted The Children’s Hour on KYTV for years. She says, “When most people envision Mom in the kitchen, they don’t visualize her in a TV studio kitchen. But that’s how I remember my mom making these brownies. She was a woman ahead of her time in the 1960s, writing and producing a kid’s TV show that ran for 26 years. The recipe was from a segment called Food Fun on The Children’s Hour.”

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter

Preparation

  • 1 Preheat over to 350 degrees. (Melt butter in the baking pan while oven is preheating.)
  • 2 Mix sugar and cocoa.
  • 3 Add eggs.
  • 4 Stir in flour.
  • 5 Stir in vanilla and melted butter and mix well.
  • 6 Pour in greased 8 x 8" baking pan and bake for 30 minutes.
