Ingredients

  • 1 waffle iron
  • 1 1/2 cup of plain flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup of sugar cubes

Preparation

  • 1 Combine flour, salt, and yeast in a large mixing bowl
  • 2 Slowly melt the butter over medium heat in a saucepan
  • 3 While you wait for the butter to liquefy, crack three eggs into a mixing bowl and beat
  • 4 Add beaten eggs to the dry ingredients and mix well
  • 5 Pour the melted butter into the mixture and stir until it forms a soft dough
  • 6 Cover the dough with clingwrap and set it aside to rise, the dough should double in size
  • 7 Wrap the sugar cubes in a cloth and crush with a rolling pin
  • 8 Reduce the sugar cubes into small lumps, this does not need to be pulverized, small lumps are key
  • 9 Mix the sugar into the dough and let it rise for another 20 minutes
  • 10 Heat the waffle iron to medium heat
  • 11 Add 1/8 of the mixture to the iron, cook for five minutes, turning regularly
  • 12 Serve hot waffles with toppings of choice
