Note: To make a flamed orange twist, take an orange slice, separate the pulp of the fruit from the rind and squeeze the juice from the pulp into the cocktail. Then, take the rind/twist and twist it over a flame next to the cocktail (a bar candle will do). The oil squeezed from the fruit will ignite. Drop twist into the cocktail. According to Doug Quinn, "You can sugar coat the rim of the glass, for a lady."

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces cognac (Hennessey VS)
  • 3/4 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 squeeze (1/2 ounce) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 squeeze (1/4 ounce) fresh orange juice
  • Flamed orange twist, for garnish

Preparation

  • 1 Add cognac, Cointreau, and lemon and orange juices to ice in a cocktail shaker.
  • 2 Shake and serve straight up in a cocktail glass.
  • 3 Garnish with orange twist.
  • 4 Yield: 1 drink
