A great soup for Christmas Eve–this Tex Mex combination will warm you up and fill you up! It’s perfect for a holiday gathering because you can keep it warm in a crock pot, and make it ahead. Just make plenty because they’ll be coming back for seconds! This recipe provided by Cindy McCracken.

While the Rotel is optional, it adds just the right amount of spice so don't be afraid!


  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 package dry ranch mix
  • 1 package dry taco seasoning mix
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 15 oz. cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 can hominy
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 1 can navy beans
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 can Rotel (optional)


  • 1 Fry ground beef.
  • 2 Add the two seasoning packets and water; let simmer.
  • 3 Add remainder of ingredients then simply heat and serve.
