First all the snack makers came out with the 100-calorie bags of cookies and crackers. Now those are being one-upped (or “one-downed”) by 90-cal snack bags. According to our taste panel, new Quaker Mini Delights are worth every single one of its 90 calories per bag.
Mini Delights look like little mini cookies, but they’re described on the package as “Bite Sized Light Crispy Multigrain Cakes”—a bit of a mouthful. The ingredients sound pretty healthy: whole grain wheat flour, whole grain yellow corn, and whole grain brown rice flour are the first three ingredients listed for the Peanut Butter variety.
Other flavors include Chocolatey Mint, Caramel Drizzle, Buttered Popcorn, and Cinnamon Streusel. Our Food Channel test panel tasted the Chocolatey Mint, Peanut Butter and the Caramel Drizzle.
These crispy little “cakes” have a light, puffed-rice kind of texture and mouth feel. They practically melt in your mouth. They’re not at all crumbly, so they don’t make a mess (great for a child’s snack). The group liked the fact that they’re not overly sweet—but just sweet enough that any kid (or grownup for that matter) will dig them.
Chocolatey Mint was a favorite
Our favorite flavor was the Chocolatey Mint, with the Peanut Butter a strong second choice. But the Caramel Drizzle was nice, too.
We recommend you try these Mini Delights from Quaker. They make for a highly satisfying guiltless snack. One of our panelists said, “I’m going go buy some of these on the way home from work tonight!”
