Minneapolis-based grocery giant SUPERVALU announced the launch of its own line of natural and organic foods that will encompass a wide array of products, including meats, sauces and produce.
The Wild Harvest brand will feature approximately 150 items and will be carried in SUPERVALU’s (distribution center pictured, left) line of grocery stores, including Acme, Albertsons, Cub Foods, Farm Fresh, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s/Star Market, Shop ‘n Save and Shoppers Food & Pharmacy. Wild Harvest items will be priced approximately 15 percent lower than name-brand organic and natural products carried in those stores.
“Now, the entire family meal can be organic — at a lower cost — from products conveniently available at a local SUPERVALU owned supermarket,” said Adam Graham, Wild Harvest brand manager.
The company attributes a growing consumer demand for natural and organic foods to the creation of the brand. Wild Harvest is the first major brand initiative for SUPERVALU since the company acquired select Albertsons properties in June 2006.
