Burger King is expanding holiday gifting possibilities for consumers this season with a collection of 20 cheeky holiday greeting cards designed specifically for the group of recipients often found at the bottom of the gift list.
With each card, comes a crisp American dollar bill for a $1 ¼-pound Double Cheeseburger, making it possible for B-list friends to get the A-list treatment this season, according to BK.
The big and beefy “holiday cards”:http://cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bkdollarholidays.com&esheet=6114633&lan=en_US&anchor=www.bkdollarholidays.com&index=1&md5=afcf6149371cb0f88da35653aaedda04 sell for $1 each, while supplies last. Visitors to the site can select cards by adjusting a slide bar on the home page to indicate their relationship with the recipient – from second-tier friend to virtual stranger. Once the special card has been chosen, gift-givers simply buy the gift and confirm the mailing address. Burger King Corp. handles the rest, sending the gift-giver’s card to their “semi-special” someone.
The messages are pretty funny, much in the spirit of the offbeat humor often found in Burger King’s TV commercials. Here’s a sampling:
- “Because an IM greeting wouldn’t have been enough. And a fancy gift would’ve been too much.”
- “Because I care deeply about someone who looks kinda like you.”
- “’Tis the season to celebrate. You just eked your way onto my gift list.”
- “The holidays are about sharing time with friends and family. See you in January.”
“Everyone is taking a closer look at their gift list this holiday season, yet no one really wants to cut back – and we don’t think they should have to,” said Brian Gies, vice president, marketing impact, Burger King Corp. “In our distinct brand voice, we’re making it possible to give the perfect gift – a superior burger at an exceptional value. And at just a buck, there’s no reason not to check off everyone on the list, whether they’ve been naughty or nice.”
