Burger King Corp. has announced that its Canadian subsidiaries have sold 20 restaurants in Ontario to Heartland Food Corp. of Canada as part of the company’s ongoing strategic portfolio management. Additionally, Heartland Food Corp. simultaneously closed on the acquisition of 14 previously franchised BURGER KING® restaurants in Ontario.

Heartland Food Corp. currently owns 257 BURGER KING® restaurants, the 34 purchased in Canada and 223 throughout the U.S. in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. In 2005, the company was awarded the BURGER KING® Brand Leadership Award.
