The U.S. economy grew in the third quarter of 2009 by 3.5% (measured by GDP). This is the first growth since the 2nd quarter of 2008. In many sectors, businesses have stabilized. But that doesn’t mean consumers are doing well.
Mass layoffs and high unemployment even make people with jobs cut back on spending. So, keeping an eye on consumer confidence is important for consumer-dependent businesses.
