Have a Glass of Bacon

The Bacon Renaissance continues.

We’ve reported previously on bacon salt and bacon mayonnaise. We’ve seen bacon-motif briefcases and skateboards. Now there’s bacon you can drink: Bakon Vodka.

Before you scoff, think about this: a Bloody Mary made with bacon-flavored Bakon Vodka. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

Bakon Vodka is quality potato vodka with a savory bacon flavor, as described on the company’s website. It’s clean, crisp and delicious, the site claims. The Seattle friends who developed the new spirit say it works well in both sweet and savory drinks, and also makes a great BBQ marinade. Conan O’Brien even mentioned bacon vodka in his Tonight Show monologue Wednesday night.

Here’s the Bakon Vodka recipe for a ‘Bacon Mary’

⋅ 1 oz. to 1½ oz. Bakon Vodka in a Highball glass filled with ice.
â‹… Fill glass with tomato juice
â‹… 1 dash celery salt
â‹… 1 dash ground black pepper
â‹… 1 dash Tabasco
â‹… 2-4 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
â‹… 1/8 tsp. horseradish (pure, never creamed)
â‹… Dash of lemon or lime juice

Garnish with a celery stalk; a skewer of olives, pickles, carrots, mushrooms, or other vegetables; or even meat or shrimp (bacon, salami, shrimp, etc.) and cheese. Pickled asparagus spears or pickled beans are also great as a garnish.
