KFC’s first-ever float-thru restaurant made its debut last weekend, anchored on Lake Michigan just off Oak Street Beach in Chicago. Boaters and jet-ski enthusiasts could sail over and try some of the new choices from the Colonel’s Ultimate Value Menu.
The float-thru launch coincided with the weekend’s professional volleyball tournament, the AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open. (Whew, that is one LONG name.)
Customers who motored over (or swam?) to the restaurant/boat were treated to free samples of KFC’s newest menu additions, including the Grilled Chicken Value Box, Mini Melts and Brownie Bites.
Could this be the beginning a trend? Hard to say. There was no word as to whether other seaworthy vessels would soon be peddling KFC chicken on additional major or minor bodies of water.
