Too intimidated to cook an entire meal totally from scratch? What if everything was assembled for you and packaged fresh in a box, including the ‘how-to-do-it’ guidance?
A new food company in the U.K. called Scratch is providing all that, making it easier for busy Londoners to cook from…that’s right, scratch.
As the Scratch people say on their web site, they provide boxes with all the fresh, uncooked ingredients—washed, chopped and weighed—along with instructions on how to prepare it. Their promise to consumers: ‘We do the hard bits, you do the fun bits.’
Each meal can be cooked in 30 minutes or less, requiring no more than three pots or pans. The company prepares everything fresh each morning for customers to cook that evening.
The meal boxes are stunningly straightforward, with the contents boldly but simply listed and individual ingredients clearly visible through the window.
In fact, everything Scratch produces—from the meals to their packaging to their business cards—is made from ‘scratch.’
You end up with a meal not exactly like grandma used to make it, but ideally it will taste something like it.
