The Green Hot movement continues to color the restaurant industry. Chipotle Mexican Grill is the latest restaurant chain to announce that it’s taking steps toward becoming more eco-friendly.
The Denver-based burrito-and-taco franchise has begun to introduce sustainable cutlery, starting with its Millbrae, California, unit. It expects to roll out the green cutlery system-wide in the near future. The knives, forks and spoons will be made of sustainable plastics from bio-based manufacturer Cereplast, Inc.
In other Chipotle news, the chain has announced plans to enter the European market. It will open its first London restaurant later this year. The company said it will use the U.K. restaurant as a springboard for further European expansion in the near future.
