According to Technomic, 77 percent of consumers eat pizza more than once per month, and 35 percent eat pizza more than once per week. Its 2008 Pizza Consumer Trend Report found that the pizza category grew more than any other major food category, on a percentage basis, with a 12 percent increase over the prior year. U.S. pizza sales totaled nearly $37 billion in 2008, and the foodservice segment continues to grow (NPD Group).
