40 Days Sans Meat: Crepe Friday

What are you giving up for Lent? Christen Nehmer, videographer for The Food Channel, is giving us her experience in going meatless. Follow along throughout the 40 days of Lent.

Day 24:

Crepe Friday. My dad surprised us this morning with crepes. Yum. This is a new liking for me. We discovered Havarti cheese a few years ago and started making crepes and they are delicious. Basically, a great way to start off a Friday. Especially when you hear about what I had to go through today.

First off, photos of chicken wings today. Are you kidding me? I tried the sauces and just imagined what they would taste like all over a delicious chicken wing.

Today for lunch I finished my veggie burrito. I think I’ll stick to the gumbo or a quesadilla. I like those better.

Dinner tonight was pretty interesting…I went to Jimmy John’s with friends. Now, here I always order the #9 with no onions. The #9 is the Italian Night Club and it is outstanding. Here’s what is on the sub: real Genoa salami, Italian capicola, smoked ham and provolone cheese topped with lettuce, tomato, mayo, homemade vinaigrette and banana peppers. You drooling yet? Anyway, so here’s what I had to order…the #6 aka the Vegetarian. This has provolone cheese, avocado, alfalfa, cucumber, lettuce, tomato and mayo. I won’t lie, it was pretty tasty. But when 3 out of 5 people are eating a #9, I had to look out the window and try to enjoy my meatless sub.

Oh well, at least it was Crepe Friday.
