What are you giving up for Lent? Christen Nehmer, videographer for The Food Channel, is giving us her experience in going meatless. Follow along throughout the 40 days of Lent.
Christen will be eating fish and vegetables in place of meat—good thing we have recipes for Lent available on The Food Channel!
Day One:
It’s that time of year again. Lent. The time where we give up/take on something for 40 days.
I decided that I’m going to give up meat. Not because I don’t like how the animals are treated (which I don’t think is right and they should be treated better), but because it’s a huge sacrifice and that’s what Lent is all about.
This is a first for me. I’ve always given up ‘sweets’ or ‘chocolate,’ which isn’t too hard for me. I figured if you’re going to get your feet wet, you might as well dive in. So far so good, but what can I say, it’s only 11 a.m.
Today for lunch I’m thinking a veggie burrito at Qdoba. Yeah, a group of friends and I won 52 burritos from a video contest. So anyway…this is going to be a learning experience, for sure. I’ll have to branch out into other forms of protein. Oh and P.S., fish does not count as meat. I really don’t know why, but yeah. I will be consuming fish. Just no chicken, piggies, turkey or moo cows.
Well, we will see how this goes. I do love a good turkey sandwich. Grrr…wish me luck. And yeah, I’m thinking that I’m going to blog my way through this. I’ll post what I eat. It’s going to be hard, but I’m up for the challenge.
