The Daily iPad App Plugs Food Channel Trends Piece

Have you seen The Daily? It’s media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s iPad exclusive newspaper (app) built from the ground up delivering news on a daily basis in articles, pictures, videos, and social media all integrated into the app. The app has been received with a great amount of fanfare, and we think it’s pretty cool.

We were checking it out the other day and noticed The Daily made mention of The Food Channel’s Top Ten Breakfast Trends feature in its Arts & Life section. Nice to be seen in such a cutting edge environment, sandwiched between Helen Mirren and Courtney Love.

The Daily has been downloaded by “hundreds of thousands” of users since its launch last month, according to its publisher, Greg Clayman. The Daily has extended its free trial offer until March 21.

Clayman, speaking at PaidContent’s 2011 Conference in New York, would not disclose exact circulation figures. “It’s more than one and less than a billion,” Clayman said when asked how many people have paid for subscriptions so far.

Murdoch has called The Daily — which turned up on Apple’s App Store at the same time as last month’s press conference — “a national news publication for the iPad that we have created from scratch.”
