Eat with Me, simply put, is a website where you post your picnic plans and invite others sign up and share the blanket. However, it’s not only for picnics, but any other event you might want to host. To quote Bethany Jones’s blog at Shareable.net, “Eavesdropping around the picnic rug, I hear interesting conversations about South Africa, Yoga and the recent change in the Parliament. I learn that you can easily ride from Berlin to Poland (without much preparation). I’ve met 21 new faces, been able to introduce people to each other. I’ve found out about cool projects happening in Melbourne and also expanded my recipe repertoire–the exact reason I wanted to host an Eat With Me event.”
It’s been a miserable winter for most of us in the States, but I think we could learn from the Aussies’ willingness to share, meet strangers and commune with nature, because life’s too short to not enjoy it! And for us at Culturewaves™ we recognize it as the We Are Family™ wave. It’s an example of connecting through Similarities–“When I’m here, it feels like home.”™
Summer is just around the corner, and wouldn’t it be nice to meet some new, fresh like-minded people to break bread with?
