Each year, The Drake Hotel in Chicago rolls out the red carpet for the holidays . . . including an array of gingerbread that will get anyone in the holiday mood!

This year the Gingerbread Village includes four detailed buildings made of gingerbread plus a snowy village, all made up of 50 pounds of frosting, 30 pounds of gingerbread and 25 pounds of candy. There are toy locomotives circling through tunnels and bridges made of chocolate and marzipan. There are stained glass windows made of sugar, and ice cream cone snowcapped pillars, plus a building with and old fashioned Necco® candy tile roof!

Drake Hotel Executive Chef Baasim Zafar says, “It’s one of the most detailed gingerbread villages I’ve ever seen. Our team and the students from the French Pastry School did a spectacular job.” Textured exterior walls, frosting evergreen trees throughout and crystal glossed sugar snow are just some of the details that Pastry Chef Christina Schubert included to make this a  one of a kind gingerbread village.

If you are in Chicago, check it out. If not, at least take a look at their video at the link below, and dream sweet dreams for Christmas.
