It’s that time again, all you who follow the trends in food. It’s time for the Winter Fancy Food Show, sponsored by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade, Inc. (NASFT). Now in its 36th year, the show runs January 16 – 18, 2011. Held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, it is devoted exclusively to specialty foods and beverages, and is open to professionals in the specialty food trade only.
The show is expected to attract more than 17,000 food retailers and restaurants looking to source new products and spot the next hot trends, with 1,300 exhibitors and 80,000 specialty foods and beverages. New pavilions include Mexico, Wales, Turkey, Jamaica, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam. Italy leads the international count with 115 exhibitors, followed by Canada with 70.
“Increasing consumer confidence, and unprecedented interest in top quality food is sparking new confidence among buyers and suppliers of specialty food,” says Ann Daw, president of the NASFT. “We anticipate a very strong show.”
The $63-billion specialty food industry is on the rebound after two years of tightened spending, according to the latest consumer research from NASFT.
