Message in a Chocolate Bar

Sting sings about a “Message in a Bottle”–a pretty cool song–but how about sending a message in a candy bar?

Well, citizens of Greece can do just that (well, virtually, anyway) thanks to a new promotion from Lacta Chocolate.

The offer requires a mobile app (free) for iPhone or Android users to be installed beforehand by the recipient. This allows Greek consumers to use their phone to send a message to a Facebook friend, family (or lover) and having it appear on the wrapper of any chocolate bar from Kraft Foods’ Lacta brand.

As you compose the message on the Lacta app, you can see a preview of what it will look like when the recipient views it on their phone.

Of course, it would be cooler if the message were on an actual chocolate bar someone could eat, but…

Well, the folks in Greece could use something fun right about now. I guess receiving a virtual candy bar with a nice message could be seen as in step with new austerity measures about to take effect. Right?
