The California Central Coast’s premiere wine event, Sunset SAVOR the Central Coast, offered foodies four days of wine, food and fun September 26-29, 2013.
The party started early this year, with participants taking advantage of optional adventure tours starting on Thursday. Foodies got the chance to plant a vine in Cambria, play nine holes of golf at Avila Beach Golf Resort, enjoy a rodeo experience with Madonna Inn and peek behind-the-scenes at the Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero.
Friday and Saturday nights offered two unique Central Coast experiences, Sunset at Hearst Castle and Sunset on the Sand at Pismo Beach. The private event at Hearst Castle featured food, drink and live music poolside at the William Randolph Hearst historic mansion. Dinner at Pismo Beach brought farm-to-table cuisine, a mixology demonstration by celebrity chef Sandra Lee, a bonfire and s’mores.
The Main Event Saturday and Sunday at Santa Margarita Ranch boasted cooking demonstrations, book signings, a peek inside the Sunset Test Kitchen with Editor Margo True, and Winemaker Central seminars complete with regional flights and tastings. Celebrity chefs Nathan Lyon, Michael Voltaggio, Marcela Villadolid, Jeff Anderson hosted seminars at the Chef Central Main Stage, and of course there was plenty of live music, food and drink to be savored at dozens of exhibitor tents.
