Repeal Day Celebration

Each year to celebrate the 1933 repeal of Prohibition, the Mob Museum in Las Vegas hosts a Repeal Day Celebration. The Food Channel's Joy Robertson was chosen to serve as a judge for the 'Boss of the Bars' competition, and she took her camera along to capture the fun.

Every year the Mob Museum in Las Vegas, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, hosts a celebration to mark the anniversary of the end of Prohibition. The annual Repeal Day Party is a chance for guests to kick up their heels and don their best Prohibition-era attire while enjoying hors d’oeuvres, casino games and live entertainment inside what was once the Las Vegas Federal Courthouse. Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman and former mayor Oscar B. Goodman kicked off the event on the courthouse steps along with cabaret dancers and vintage automobiles. Among the highlights of the evening were a costume contest and the second annual Boss of the Bars Cocktail Competition where downtown bartenders faced off, crafting Prohibition-era cocktails. Judges included Ricardo Murcia, master mixologist at Bellagio, Joy Robertson, host and producer, FoodChannel.com; Xania Woodman, senior editor, dining, beverage and nightlife, Vegas Seven; and Eric Gladstone, wine and spirits educator and writer. This year’s winner is Matt Graham of Atomic Liquors
