Start by gathering and measuring all your ingredients. (See recipe for complete ingredients and preparation instructions.)
Process the fresh basil leaves in a food processor until they are evenly minced.
Add in the red wine vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar, and Dijon mustard, and blend until thoroughly blended.
Scrape down the sides of the food processor.
With the food processor running, slowly pour in the oil in a thin stream.
