Fairbank Farms in Ashville, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling more than 22,000 pounds of ground beef products that may contain pieces of plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced late Monday.
The products were processed at Fairbank Farms’ Ashville facility and sold through Price Chopper, Shaw’s, BJ’s, and Wilson Farms retail outlets and C&S Wholesale distributor. All recalled products have a “sell-by” date of 05/13/08 or 05/15/08 on the label, according to a statement released by the company.
The products that are subject to recall are various kinds of ground beef and ground beef patties produced on May 3. They were distributed to retail establishments in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts and New York.
The problem was discovered after the company received consumer complaints. No injuries have been reported.
